About Anne .....I am a mother and grandmother - and a BodyworkTherapist, with a Level 4 Practitioner Diploma in Holistic Massage with Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology through the Massage Training Institute, I am on the register of the Massage Training Institute, and I hold a DBS Enhanced Certificate (Safeguarding Children). I am also a Hands on Babies qualified Baby Massage & Baby Yoga Instructor.
Locally I'm joint Chair of the Midlands Regional Group of the Massage Training Institute, helping to organise workshops and Continuing Professional Development for Massage Therapists. For over 30 years I taught parents as an Advanced Teacher for National Childbirth Trust, and lectured student midwives at the University of Worcester as an Associate Lecturer. For two years I worked as Parent Education Consultant for the Worcestershire Acute Trust, where part of my work was writing the script for the labour section of the From Bump To Baby dvd published by the NHS & Worcestershire County Council. Supporting women in labour, and leading sessions for student midwives and midwives on Active Birth led me to look more deeply into communicating by touch - and after a lifechanging Bodywork & Massage course with the Bristol College of Bodywork and Massage, I decided that helping people feel better from a massage session is where my skills now lie! Working with pregnant women for so many years has made me think that this work can be integrated with my Bodywork - and so I offer Pregnancy Massage - using, if you wish, a specially designed pregnancy massage pillow, which allows you to lie on your tummy! You can add to this session a private Antenatal Class (www.stand-and-deliver.com), and/or a debrief of a previous traumatic childbirth experience - or one which didn't go the way you had hoped! This would be an additional fee. Holistic massage really does mean that the session is "you-centred". I can include hand/feet/face/scalp massages; massages with hot scented oils; ......and much much more. I am a Fusion massage therapist, in that I will incorporate techniques from other disciplines such as ayurvedic and thai yoga massage if I feel it will help you. At Royal Porcelain Works in Worcester I hold weekly Baby Massage/Yoga fusion sessions - based on the age of the baby. I am a Hands on Babies Qualified Baby Massage/Yoga instructor. I do not diagnose illness or disease, or provide or adjust medications, and spinal manipulations are not part of the treatment. It is really important that you let me know about any known physical/mental/medical conditions, and keep my informed of any changes. Massage/Bodywork Therapy is not a substitute for medical treatment of medications, and you should consult your GP for any medical conditions you may have. Rest assured that any information given to me is confidential, and that sessions are all about you, and that you are free to change or stop a session at any time. |
